Apologies troops, uni has been battering fuck out me so I’ve
missed a couple weeks with this, it’s making me feel guilty so here’s a quick
recap from the past couple weeks:
The boys Hazeydays released their second single “Lipstick”
which is 1 minute 38 seconds of sheer energy. I’m a big fan of it but was
already expecting to be. A lot of things are happening for them which is class,
they’ve got a gig with Beta Waves on the 3rd of January in King
Tuts as a part of their “New Years Revolution” so try get a ticket
for that before it sells out. They’ve also got another single coming out on the
13th of December called “M.U.A love”, you can presave that on
spotify already. The new single has been put on Spotify’s “Punk Playlist”…
make of that what you will...
The Edinburgh three-piece indie band Vistas have
released another song called “Teenage Blues” which sticks to what they’re
good at: fast paced indie anthems. The songs focus is around the transition
period between adolescence to adulthood. It falls well with the rest of their
songs and as a band I really like them, “Sign Language” is one of my
favourite songs in that genre in the last five years. They’re a band well worth
listening to if you haven’t already.
Calva Louise released their ep “Interlude For The
Borderline Unsettled” which features two previously released singles “Belicoso”
and “Sleeper” and a Strange Bones remix of “Belicoso”. I’m
really not into remixes and so the only new material worth talking about is “Adelante”.
The single comes across as pretty sinister and unsettling, it’s a nice finish
to the ep but. With the release of this came a lyric video which can be found
on youtube.
I also seen Rex Orange County play on Sunday the 24th
at the Barrowlands. I was buzzing to see him but was honestly shocked at how
good her was. He didn’t have a support, put on a 20-song set both with and
without a band. He put so much into his show in terms of energy, props and
charisma. The crowd played their part too, singing their hearts out to every
song. Plus, it got Louis Theroux’s approval which means a lot to me.
